Resellers

TUXGUARD Mail Gateway provides two ways to organize and manage very large, complex email installations, Hierarchies and Domain Aliases.

Hierarchies

Hierarchies allow you to organize and safeguard access to data groupings in TUXGUARD Mail Gateway to authorized individuals. You can create groupings where Domains can be grouped into Companies and Companies can be grouped into Resellers.

For example:

  • The MX Domains zebras.zoo.com, owls.zoo.com and birds.zoo.com can be grouped into the Company Zoos
  • The MX Domains rockcreek.parks.com, central.parks.com and yosemite.parks.com be grouped into the Company Parks
  • The MX Domains barbados.resorts.com, aruba.resorts.com and puertorico.resorts.com be grouped into the Company Resorts

And the Companies Zoos, Parks and Resorts can be organized into the Reseller Recreations.

You can then create roles that allow specific users access configure or view only specific parts of Hierarchies such as:

  • A Domain Administrator for Zoos can modify any Domain in the Company Zoos
  • A Help Desk user for the domains in the Company Parks can view data for any Domain in Parks
  • A System Administrator for all units in the reseller Resorts can modify any Domain in Resorts
  • A Domain Administrator for the Domain birds.zoo.com can modify the configuration of birds.zoo.com

Domain Aliases

Domain Aliases allow you to organize the configuration of Domains into to similar groupings For example creating owls.zoo.com and birds.zoo.com as Domain Alias of zebras.zoo.com means that any change made to the configuration of zebras.zoo.com will also be applied to owls.zoo.com and birds.zoo.com.

And if you were to create the new domain hippos.zoo.com as a Domain Alias of zebras.zoo.com, it would inherit the same configuration as that of zebras.zoo.com and any future configuration changes made to zebras.zoo.com would be applied to hippos.zoo.com.

Note that Domain Aliases are created when you use the Domain -> Add New Domain menu to create a new domain that should be based on an existing actual Domain.
